Ambos Mundos Hotel

Ernest Hemingway had many reasons to say that Ambos Mundos (Two Worlds) Hotel was a good place for writing. It was here where some of his works came into being, such as Death in the Afternoon (1932) and Green Hills of Africa (1935). The room where this Literature Nobel Prize winner stayed in the 1930’s is maintained today as a small museum that treasures some of his belongings.

Hemingway’s memory lives on in this hotel where guests may be served some of this American novelist’s favorite dishes, made at Plaza de Armas restaurant. In addition to such attractions, the hotel displays the Roof Garden which, located on the top floor, offers an exquisite grill and provides one of the best views of the Historic Center of the city.
Featuring a late 1920’s eclectic architecture, the hotel has a prime location, on one of the liveliest corners of the city, opposite St. Jerome of Havana University College, just a few steps from the Arms and Cathedral Squares.
Art exhibitions and occasional jazz performances as well as by other musicians provide the entertainment at the piano bar. The hotel also features Del Monte hall, which seats up to 120 people. The latter, also turned into an art gallery, hosts conferences, events, trade agreement signing ceremonies, product presentations, cocktail parties and receptions.
This restaurant, named after the oldest square in the Historic Center, is one of the most exclusive and distinguished spots in Old Havana.
