Palacio O’Farrill

Perhaps one of O’Farrill Hotel Palace’s main attractions is the neoclassical beauty of the once residence of Mr. José Ricardo O’Farrill y O’Daly, a rich merchant (born in County Longford, Ireland) who arrived in Havana in 1715 and founded one of the wealthiest families during colonial times. The combination of 18th, 19th and 20th-century architectural elements in the decoration of each of its three floors is a distinctive feature of this hotel. Some of its spaces have been baptized with names allegorical of that Nordic country.

Longford Hall features original decoration and furniture and hosts regular conferences and events on the influence of Irish culture in Cuba. Every March 17, the hotel celebrates St. Patrick’s Day, dedicated to the patron saint of Ireland, whose traditional festivity is specially commemorated. The third floor features an art gallery and Cuban and international music performances are organized in other halls of the hotel.
A particular scent, especially made for the hotel in Habana 1791 perfume store, presides over the property reception. O’Farrill Hotel Palace is located very near the Cathedral Square, one of the city’s most crowded public spaces.
O’Farrill Hotel’s restaurant, Don Ricardo, offers Irish food recipes as part of its menu. The restaurant is preceded by an interior courtyard which stands out for an old skylight-shaded cistern.
