Raquel Hotel
The building now occupied by this hotel, which dates from 1905, was originally home to offices and a fabric warehouse. Three years later, it looked as it does today and in 1912, it finally became a fabric importing house. Built in the Art Nouveau style, Raquel Hotel captivates visitors with a combination of beauty and sensuality typical of this atmosphere. Its biblical name and some of its spaces evoke the ancient Hebrew culture that is present in various decorative details.

Its painstaking design stands out in every corner of the hotel with 25 guest-rooms that feature paintings by renowned Cuban artists. A spectacular skylight gives a special touch to this roadside hotel, close to the Old and St. Francis of Assisi Squares and cultural spaces like the one that serves as venue for Retazos (snippets) theater and dance group in Las Carolinas garden.
Jardín del Edén (Garden of Eden) restaurant, the only one of its kind in our country, offers traditional Jewish dishes. Its culinary tradition is closely linked to certain religious requirements and some kosher rules, such as the prohibition of eating pork and by-products, as well as seafood, excluding fish with scales and fins. The restaurant is adjacent to Lejaim lobby bar, whose name is a Hebrew word alluding to a toast to life. This Garden of Eden, where blue predominates as a color of paramount importance in the Hebrew culture, is noted for its decoration, including traditional symbols like the Star of David and the Menorah or sacred 7-branched candelabrum.
