Café Taberna Restaurant

This café, the first one in the city of Havana back in 1772, is named after its first owner, Mr. Juan Bautista Taberna. The building was later used for several other purposes before it was reopened in 1999 with a 1950’s atmosphere. The Café Taberna prides itself on being the spot for the friends of Benny’s, as the music played by the Bárbaro del Ritmo (one of the names Benny Moré was known as) is the main feature of the restaurant, where the Sonero Mayor (another name given to Benny) is always remembered. Photos capturing his performances and meetings with friends hang from the walls of this place where food is accompanied by live Cuban traditional music songs played by soloists and local bands.
